Piemonte has a lot to offer, some tips :

Acqui Terme

Acqui Terme is one of the oldest thermal spa centers of Italy. In the centre of the city you will find "La Bollente", a spring which produces sulfur water of 74,5 degrees. Take a stroll down the old narrow streets, enjoy an aperitivo or have lunch or dinner in one of the many excellents restaurants. Twice a week there is a big market with local products like fresh pasta and local cheeses. Feel like totally relaxing ? You can book a welness or beauty treatment in one of the many spa centers in the city.

Strevi

Every first weekend of June there is a slow food event. Walking a whole day from farm to farm and in between enjoying good wine and good food. A nice occasion to get acquainted with the local population and their products. The Slowfood organisation got established in Piemonte to protect and promote local products which are produced according to traditional methods.

Alba

This is the capital of the truffle, each year in October the annual truffle festival takes place here, attracting many thousands of visitors. This event has grown into a grand feast and is enriched with cultural events such as the Palio with the donkeys and the tournament of the hundred towers. Even outside this period, Alba is worth a visit with its towers, churches and charming shops. Weekly market in Alba on Saturday in the historic center.

ASTI

Asti is the capital of the province of the same name and is best known for its Barbera d'Asti and Asti Spumante. Asti has a beautiful medieval city center with important monuments, the towers, the fortified city houses and the gothic cathedral. Every year the Palio with horses is held on the first weekend of September.

Torino

The capital of Piedmont is 120 km from La Piccola Scoperta. Turin is a beautiful city characterized by its Baroque palaces, long and chic promenades with beautiful shops, interesting museums and beautiful castles. The city of chocolate and good food. Eataly, a gourmet store where you can eat but also buy delicacies and cookbooks, all according to the Slowfood philosophy.

The coast

Within an hour you arrive at the Ligurian coast. Visit the city of Genova (reachable by train from Acqui Terme) or drive a bit further to the beautiful Cinque Terre.

Meanwhile the big benches became a real hype in Piemont.  You can find them in locations chosen for their spectacular views or surroundings.  These benches make even the tallest people look like toddlers which makes great pictures.  The app  “Big Bench” shows all the locations.

Barolo where the famous Barolo wines are produced.

Bra the origin of the slowfood movement.

Roccaverano with this 30 meters high tower, famous for the Robbiola, a soft goatcheese.
